Tuba City Boarding School offers bus transportation for day students and limited transportation options for residential (dorm) students. Below are the guidelines and rules to ensure a safe and efficient transportation experience.

General Information

Bus Routes and Schedule

Daily bus services are available for day students, with stops at designated locations only.

Schedule Changes

Bus schedules may change due to unforeseen circumstances. Parents must provide current contact information to the bus driver and school registrar for timely updates.

School Bus Privilege

Riding the school bus is a privilege, and students must follow all safety rules and procedures. Misbehavior may result in temporary or permanent suspension of bus privileges.

Inclement Weather

Parents will receive automated text notifications in case of school delays or cancellations due to weather or emergencies. Ensure the school has your most current phone number for this service.

Temporary Bus Passes

Students needing to ride a different bus must have a temporary bus pass. Parents or guardians must provide written notice or call the school by 11:00 a.m. on the same day.

Bus Safety Rules and Expectations

Students are expected to follow these guidelines to maintain their bus privileges and ensure the safety of all passengers:

At the Bus Stop

  • Arrive 10 minutes early and stay off the road while waiting.
  • Avoid playing games or running after the bus if you’re late.
  • Wait until the bus has completely stopped before approaching.

On the Bus

  • Sit in your assigned seat and remain seated while the bus is moving.
  • Keep hands, feet and objects inside the bus and out of the aisle.
  • Maintain a low noise level and remain quiet at railroad crossings.
  • Tobacco, alcohol, drugs and open flames are strictly prohibited.
  • Avoid eating or drinking on the bus.
  • Do not damage the bus. Parents will be held responsible for repair costs.
  • Keep valuable items secure; the bus driver is not responsible for lost items.

Leaving the Bus

  • Wait until the bus has completely stopped before exiting.
  • Cross in front of the bus where the driver can see you and maintain a safe distance from the bus.
  • Drivers will only drop passengers at regular bus stops.

Respect and Courtesy

  • Always show respect to the driver and other passengers.
  • Refrain from using foul language or gestures.

Residential (Dorm) Students

Transportation for residential students is limited to certain days and circumstances. Parents are responsible for arranging their child’s travel to and from the dormitory except in the cases outlined below:

Friday and Holiday Transportation Home

  • Dorm students may take the bus home on Friday afternoons or before holiday weekends.
  • Parents must complete the Transportation Form in advance for weekly bus rides home.
  • Written authorization is required; phone calls will not be accepted for last-minute arrangements.

Monday and Holiday Transportation Back to School

  • Dorm students should return to the residential hall on Sundays.
  • On school days, buses prioritize day students, and space for dorm students is limited.
  • Carry-on luggage must fit under the student’s seat for safety purposes.
