Home of the Thunderbirds

Tuba City Boarding School provides a quality educational program that serves our Navajo students from kindergarten through eighth grade. We are comprised of three academies: Little Thunderbird Academy, Rising Thunderbird Academy, and Thunderbird Academy. TCBS represents the circular hooghan (hogan), “home of learning,” for our family school of educators and learners. Our highly qualified staff is committed to fostering our students’ academic success, excellence, and collaboration. Together, Tuba City Boarding School staff and parents embrace the concept of partnership to provide an exceptional educational experience, as reflected by student achievements and success profiles of TCBS graduates post-junior high school.

Little Thunderbird Academy (K-2nd)

Little Thunderbird Academy introduces our youngest students to classroom learning and provides many opportunities to develop into accomplished lifelong learners. Little Thunderbird students grow, learn, and thrive in a safe, culturally competent environment while building valuable partnerships with parents/guardians and the community.

Rising Thunderbird Academy (3rd-5th)

We encourage Rising Thunderbird Academy students and their families to practice the traditional concept of Hózho —balance, Peace, and Harmony—to support students’ physical, mental, and social-emotional well-being. Our scholars reach their full academic potential through self-care, healthy eating, exercise and mental health maintenance.

Thunderbird Academy (6th - 8th)

Students at Thunderbird Academy develop the skills to collaborate with global communities and effectively communicate across cultures as they prepare for graduation, high school, college and other future opportunities. Our Thunderbird Academy graduates represent TCBS’s standard of excellence as they acquire valuable life skills that empower them to lead fulfilling and enriched lives.

We provide opportunities for the development of positive self-worth through lifelong learning, healthy growth and personal success.
